CloudFactory, which recently closed on $7.3 million in new investment capital. has moved into new office space as well.

The startup is taking 3,800 square feet on Main Street in Durham, occupying space most recently the home of Independent Weekly.

The space is adjacent to American Underground @ Main. CloudFactory is a former AU tenant.

“Like so many in American Underground, we started out in a small office on the main floor and are now on our third expansion as both AU and CloudFactory continue to grow,” says Mark Sears, Founder and CEO of CloudFactory. “The AU community has contributed to our growth in so many ways, and we’re thrilled to grow into a such a prominent space while remaining part of this amazing ecosystem.”

The new funding came as CloudFactory rolled out its latest crowdsourcing product – WorkStream. It is:

  • Subscription-Based

Prices start as low as $1,800 per month for everything you need. No long term commitments.

  • Vetted, Trained and Managed

We handle all of the recruiting, training, and management so you don’t have to.

  • Scale Smarter

“We’ve made it easy to expand capacity as you grow so you can scale smart!” CloudFactory says.

Along with the new space, CloudFactory plans to more than double its headcount in Durham to 26 over the next six months to a year. The company currently has 12 employees in Durham.

On the “help wanted” list are for spots in sales, marketing and “client success.”

Most of the people who work with CloudFactory are based overseas with 2,500 workers operating in Nepal and Kenya. It aims to provide work for 1 million people in the developing world.

The company has some 80 customers who utilize CloudFactor for crowdsourcing development solutions.

Dolma Impact Fund and The Social Entrepreneurs’ Fund were among the investors backing the last round. The Rockerfeller Foundation backed CloudFactory with $2 million in 2015.

“CloudFactory’s progression through the Durham startup ecosystem is exactly why we created the American Underground,” said Adam Klein, chief strategist, American Underground. “When CloudFactory sought a location for its US headquarters, we were fortunate to land them in Durham. From there, they’ve continually added headcount, tapped into the amazing talent here and now are off to the races with this Series B round.”
