Four startups in the Triangle as well as one in Greensboro and another in Charlotte are the latest emerging ventures to receive seed development grants from the NC IDEA Foundation.

The six will share in grants totalling $300,000. Maximum grant amount is $50,000.

The funding is non-dilutive and is to be used for business development and related costs.

NC IDEA has now made more than $5 million in grants to some 120 companies across the state dating back to launch in 2006.

“This cohort of grant companies illustrates the vibrancy of entrepreneurial interests in the state of North Carolina,” said Thom Ruhe, President and CEO of NC IDEA, in the announcement. “Industries represented include Ed Tech, nanoparticles, 3D printing, IoT and technology solutions."

Some 173 companies applied for the grants.
