Raleigh-based FilterEasy, a startup founded by two North Carolina State University students has raised an equity round of more than $4.2 million, according to a regulatory filing. The company sells an online A/C filter subscription service that helps users replace filters on time.

Kevin Barry and Thad Tarkington launched FilterEasy, which sells a subscription-b ased replacement service for A/C filters, in March 2014.

The company raised $1.2 million in debt funding in January 2015 led by Azure Capital with RTP Capital and several angel investors participating.

It followed that with a $3 million round later in 2015 led by Durham-based Idea Fund Partners with participation from Cary-based Cofounders Capital and other investors.

According to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, (http://www.formds.com/issuers/filtereasy-inc) the current raise included 44 investors.

The FilterEasy web site offers a large selection of A/C filters in various sizes and delivers them when it’s time to replace old ones, so people won’t forget to do it.

The company had more than 10,000 paying subscribers when it landed its seed round and a revenue run rate of more than $1 million a year, according to reports.

Flanders PrecisionAire makes the filters, which are shipped from the firm’s Raleigh HQ.
