MORRISVILLE, N.C. – Extreme Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: EXTR) is planning to open its new Research Triangle Park facility in Morrisville with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday.

After an extensive search, the networking company chose to continue expanding upon its Triangle operations with a new facility that includes a new corporate data center highlighting Extreme Network’s technology along with strong connections to their Silicon Valley and Chennai, India campuses.

“Research Triangle Park is recognized as a major technology hub, a place of both innovation and excitement,” said Chuck Berger, president and CEO for Extreme Networks. “The combination of nearby, nationally-ranked universities that have excellent engineering and business programs and the entrepreneurial environment that has evolved in the area over the years makes this an ideal location for continued expansion at Extreme Networks.”

The new facility is a LEED Certified campus featuring Cree’s energy efficient lighting throughout the building and car charging stations to support alternative energy vehicles. It also has a state-of-the-art customer briefing center, new test and development labs, and “extreme” collaboration zones.

The ribbon cutting will be attended by Morrisville Mayor Jackie Holcombe and other city officials. It is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Thursday, at 2121 RDU Center Drive, in Morrisville.

Extreme Networks is based in San Jose, Calif., and has more than 6,000 customers in more than 50 countries.
