Dell is buying cloud data storage company EMC in a deal worth approximately $67 billion in cash and stock in the largest tech acquisition in the U.S. ever.

EMC has a large presence in Apex, where a plan to expand and bring almost 400 jobs to the Triangle earned them a $7.4 million incentives package from the state.

The deal, which Dell is doing with MSD Partners and Silver Lake, will give EMC stockholders about $33.15 per share in cash and stock.

Dell also previously received state incentives for a Triad computer manufacturing facility.

EMC shares surged 7 percent in premarket trading, but are down 7 percent in the year through Friday.
