Communications provider Ting has picked the neighborhood of Holly Glen as the launching place for a high-speed fiber optic network in Holly Springs.

Construction of the gigabit-speed network – which Ting brands as “crazy fast Internet” – will begin in August.

Ting has targeted Holly Springs for possible deployment over the past several months, surveying potential customers. The company joins a growing number of firms building ultra-fast Internet networks across the Triangle region: AT&T, Google, Frontier Communications and CenturyLink.

Based on pre-orders, the company said Wednesday that Holly Glen is the first construction site with work beginning in August.

More areas will be added soon after, the company noted.

“Our initial roll-out plans cover a larger area than just Holly Glen: surrounding neighborhoods including Holly Pointe, Autumn Park and Morgan Park,” Ting posted in a blog.

“And we’re just getting started!”

Homes should be connected to the network by the end of the year.

“We go where we’re needed and wanted most,” says Adam Eisner, VP of Networks for Ting Internet. “We use pre-orders
to determine where the strongest desire lies. Holly Glen reached that tipping point quickly and we’re eager to get
started. By the end of 2016, we plan to have the first homes in Holly Glen connected with Ting crazy fast fiber
Internet.”

Ting also unveiled costs, including “not more” than $200 for residential or $400 for a business.

The hardware for the network includes a wireless router, which is $199 or rents for $9 a month.

Internet access is $89 for homes, $139 for businesses.

A lower-cost, slower serve also is available for $19.95.

Ting is offering discounts on installation for people who pre-order.
