Two executives who led Clinipace Worldwide operations in Europe following an acquisition last year are leaving the company, and a new leader has been appointed to replace them.

Ran Frenkel, vice president of international business development, is assuming additional duties as managing director for Europe, Middle East and Africa, the clinical research organization firm said Thursday.

Stepping aside are Kurt Pfister, the former CEO of European operations, and Kathryn Voegeli, who had been chief operating officer. The two will continue as advisors to Clinipace through 2013 and remain on the board of directors for Clinipace AG, the firm’s European operation.

Pfister and Voegeli founded PFC Pharma Focus, which was acquired by Clinipace last year.

Frenkel also joined Clinipace as part of that deal.

“Ran has consistently demonstrated that he understands and supports our corporate vision of driving innovation in clinical research through a technology-amplified service platform,” said Jeff Williams, the chief executive officer of Clinipace Worldwide. “Ran is committed to extending our unique approach to service delivery throughout EMEA, and I’m confident he will continue to lead our growth in the region.

“Clinipace is proud of the leadership demonstrated by both Kurt and Kathryn in growing the company’s presence and foothold in EMEA,” he added. “They helped build a talented team of experts, and as a combined company for the past two years, our common goals have been easily achieved.”
