CityCampNC, a three-day event focused on united government, citizens and the private sector to jointly develop better quality of life through technology and innovation, opens Thursday evening with teams developing ideas that can be prototyped  in under 72 hours.

The winning team will receive a top prize of $3,000.

It’s the fourth year for the event. 

Activities begin at the Architect Social House at 5 p.m. for networking followed by a keynote speech.

But the real action starts Friday at 9 a.m. with “unconference pitches” at William Peace University.

Teams will form around ideas, which must be submitted by Friday ay 5 p.m.

“Build day” for concepts is Saturday with prototypes due that afternoon.

Judging is expected to start at 4 p.m.

Representing local government are Wake County CIO Bill Greeves and Bill Scanlon, who leads the the Open Data Initiative and Innovation Office for Wake County.

Bonner Gaylord, who currently serves as a member of Raleigh’s City Council, also is attending.

MetLife Global Technology & Operations will be represented by Amy Gaskins, Assistant Vice President, Business Analytics & Intelligence as a featured presenter.
