Cloud computing and file-sharing software firm Citrix (Nasdaq: CTXS) plans to expand its Raleigh operations, creating 400 jobs over the next five years, officials said Thursday.

Citrix said it will invest $5 million in the expansion. The company already employs about 800 people in downtown Raleigh.

“Citrix is committed to investing in the tech innovation that is shaping the Raleigh community,” Jesse Lipson, corporate vice president and general manager, said in a statement. “This partnership is a reflection of the culture of innovation within our company.”

The average annual salary of the new jobs will be at least $73,325, officials said, which compares with Wake County’s average of $52,315 per year.

Citrix qualified for a Job Development Investment Grant that will provide employee withholding tax rebates of up to $5.7 million over 10 years if the company meets annual job and investment targets.

The expansion is the second this week for Wake County. Pharmaceutical clinical trials firm INC Research said Tuesday that it would add 550 jobs in Morrisville.
