Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton, is scheduled to participate in a “Women & Innovation Spotlight” event on Thursday at HQ Raleigh.

The program is being put on by e51, a group focusing on women in business.

“Clinton will emphasize Hillary Clinton’s plans to invest in technology and innovation, particularly as it relates to small businesses,” according to the organizers.

e51, which is based at HQ Raleigh, takes its name from the fact that women make up 51 percent of the U.S. population yet are not equally represented in management and compensation.

“Building a Robust, Visible Ecosystem of High-Impact Female Entrepreneurs” is the goal of the group, which launched in 2015.

The program includes a panel discussion to be led by Brooks Bell, owner of the tech services firm by the same name. The company focuses on enterprise-level testing, personalization and optimization services.

Bell has been an outspoken critic of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, including remarks at the Democrat National Convention. (Her husband, Jesse Lipson, also spoke out against Trump.) Bell also has been very vocal in her opposition against North Carolina HB2, known widely as “the bathroom bill.”

Joining Bell and Clinton on the panel will be:

  • Isa Watson (Founder Envested)
  • Dr. Tashni-Ann Dubroy (President Shaw University / Co-Founder Tea & Honey Blends)
  • Katie Wyatt (Founder Kidznotes)

Registration for the event is closed but a waiting list is available at:
