CHARLOTTE – Employers in Charlotte and Raleigh are continuing to seek talented technology workers, with the Charlotte job market showing a dramatic increase in the number of technology job postings, according to a new report from recruiting website Dice.com.

The report, which tracked 25 U.S. cities and regions, found that technology job postings based in the Queen City increased by 65% year-over-year when comparing the total postings between New Year’s Day and the end of June in both 2021 and 2022.

And the region ranked 10th in the report’s list of top technology cities, whereas Raleigh ranked 23rd.

The year-over-year growth of Raleigh’s technology job postings was 24%, the report found.

Across the state of North Carolina, there remain tens of thousands of job postings, despite a drop of about 8,000 postings in July 2022 compared to June 2022, a report from NC TECH found earlier this month.

Jobs surprise: Triangle labor market shows more energy with openings climbing

Job postings for North Carolina’s IT sector were still up 9% compared to the prior July, though, said said Andrea Fleming, the director of talent and workforce development at NC TECH.

Fleming called the drop a “typical summer dip in hiring,” in a statement.

Statewide, the Dice.com report found that North Carolina ranked 8th in the nation for technology jobs, and the year-over-year growth rate was 44%.  But the Dice.com report looked at the aggregated data for the first half of the year, whereas the NC TECH report compared year-over-year changes by the month.
