The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) is accepting applications to be a showcase company at its Tech Venture Conference Sept. 16-17 at the Raleigh Convention Center. This year, the CED is opening up its demo room to more companies – not just those pitching on stage.

So what does it mean to be a Showcase Company? A limited number of the region’s most disruptive emerging technology companies will be chosen to represent our region and deliver a short pitch during the conference. This group will pitch on the main stage to an audience of over 600 attendees as well as a small panel of judges.

To be considered for a main stage Showcase Company pitch at the CED Tech Venture Conference 2014, all interested companies must apply by July 17th. A selection committee will review all applications and the official lineup will be announced in early August.

To apply, companies must be headquartered in North Carolina and developing a product in one of these areas: Healthcare IT, Ecommerce, Media/Entertainment, Data/Analytics, Advanced Materials, Social, Mobile, Cloud Services, and other tech-enabled services.

The CED says that benefits include exposure and access to more than 600 industry leaders and investors (including 25 out-of-market firms).

This year’s event is focused on the “Internet of (Every) Thing.” Confirmed speakers include Phillip Alvelda, CEO of TaDA and founding CEO of MobiTV; Davide Morken, co-founder and CEO of Bandwidth; Vince Padua, director of product management and strategy, IBM Watson; Scot Wingo, co-founder and CEO of Channel Advisor; and Alec Sokolow, the Academy Award-Winning Screenwriter.
