Premium Lock Wake, Vance community colleges launch logistics program

Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh and Vance-Granville Community College announced a plan Tuesday to offer a two-year associate degree in global logistics technology.

The program will train Triangle workers and businesses that transport products to customers across the nation and around the world.

The two community colleges joined with the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill to form North Carolina Consortium for Logistics Education. Area businesses and industries will also be invited to join the partnership.

Walter Martin, who was introduced as VGCC’s new director of logistics technology, will be based at Wake Tech’s Northern Wake Campus. Martin will work with industry representatives and recruit students for the program.
