Research Triangle Park, N.C. —
Cisco Systems (Nasdaq: CSCO) will build a $184 million data center just north of Dallas in Allen, Texas, economic development officials told the Dallas Morning News on Tuesday.
Construction is expected to begin later this year.
"It's huge for us," Jennifer Grimm, director of business development for the Allen Economic Development Corp., told the newspaper. "We've been working for several years to market sites up there for data centers. We couldn't have won any better than this."
The center will cover 160,000 square feet and could be expanded to 350,000 square feet while employing between 100-125 people.
Cisco Systems employs some 2,000 people at its campus in RTP.
