Reports: Lenovo terminates plans for plant in Poland
Lenovo, the world’s fourth largest PC maker, apparently won’t be building a new production plant in Poland.
Various Polish media sources reported that Lenovo, which maintains headquarters in Morrisville and Beijing, has pulled out of a plan for its first European manufacturing plant. It was to have been built in southwestern Poland and employ some 13,00 people.
The investment was going to be some $20 million.
"First of all the production plant in Legnickie Pole was not built, because Immo Industry Group (IIG), the developer responsible for the construction, went bankrupt,” a source told Puls Biznesu. The story was quoted in the Warsaw Business Journal.
“And secondly, the global situation has caused the company to withdraw from the idea related to production in Europe,” the source added.
