Red Hat, Nokia Team Up Telecom Solutions

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Red Hat is teaming up with international telecommunications firm Nokia to develop telecom solutions based on the Linux operating system.

Nokia's Network Business Group selected Red Hat Enterprise Linux for the primary operating software to be used in networking gearing for major carriers.

Red Hat will assist development with onsite consulting support, certification and training services.

The Nokia deal is part of Red Hat's efforts to expand its foothold in mission-critical telecommunications solutions.

"Working with Nokia, we plan to make our solution for the telecommunications industry even stronger," said Paul Cormier, executive vice president of engineering for Red Hat. "We are especially pleased to have gained the confidence of Nokia's Networks Group as evidenced by their decision to use Red Hat Enterprise Linux as its primary operating system."
