AT&T opens call center in Goldsboro, targets 400 jobs
AT&T (NYSE: T) formally opened its $6 million call center in Goldsboro on Tuesday, and company officials disclosed they will hire as many as 400 people to work there.
That’s 50 more than originally planned. AT&T is to receive some $600,000 in tax incentives for the center. The company estimated the center’s annual payroll will be $9 million.
AT&T employees will assist broadband customers.
The jobs are among 5,000 that the company is returning to the U.S. from off-shore locations.
"AT&T is committed to bringing jobs back into the U.S., and this new center is an example of that commitment and how the merger is benefiting consumers and the communities in which we work and live," said AT&T Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Randall Stephenson. "The business-friendly climate in the states we serve makes it possible for us to invest and expand our operations. North Carolina's visionary leaders make this state attractive for investments and a good place to do business."
