BURLINGTON, N.C. – Laboratory Corporation of America (NYSE: LH) is rolling out a new genetic test designed to determined a person’s reaction to some hepatitis C virus therapies.
Some patients respond with limited efficacy to certain interferon-based therapies. The test is intended to determine patients who are likely to have what LabCorp describes as a “favorable response.”
More than 3 million people in the U.S. and 170 million people worldwide are infected with hepatitis C.
