RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. - The Hamner Institutes for Health Sciences has announced that Naina Bhasin, Ph.D., has been appointed vice president of business development and operations.
In this position, she will support The Hamner's mission to collaborate with academia, the private sector, and government to conduct translational research and new educational programs, both of which are designed to improve human health assessments and the development of safer medical treatments.
Working in conjunction with the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, CED (formerly the Council for Entrepreneurial Development), and university business schools and entrepreneurial programs, Bhasin will provide guidance to emerging companies as they develop their initial technology, commercialization, and funding plans.
Bhasin previously served as director of business and technology development for The Hamner. Prior to joining The Hamner in March 2008, she served as director of the Hepatic Research Registry for CellzDirect, Inc.
She earned a B.S. in Cell and Structural Biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1996, followed by a Ph.D. in Cell and Developmental Biology at UNC-Chapel Hill in 2003.
The Hamner Institutes acts as a catalyst to facilitate life sciences technology development among North Carolina and the world.
