WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Dell (Nasdaq: DELL) is granting another reprieve to hits massive PC production plant in Winston-Salem.
A Forsyth County commissioner told The Winston-Salem Journal on Friday that Dell would keep the plant open through July. A dell spokesperson confirmed the report to the newspaper.
The plant originally was scheduled to close in January.
Due to a global surge in demand, Dell later extended the plant’s lifespan through April.
Some 500 people still work at the facility. Some 400 were laid off last November.
Dell opened the plant in 2005. It plans to move the operations to Mexico.
