CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Wednesday is day two of the CHAT festival that’s underway at UNC-Chapel Hill, and the event is drawing leading thinkers from around the region as well as across the U.S. to talk about what’s coming next in the realms of digital entertainment.
CHAT stands for Collaborations: Humanities, Arts & Technology. The theme for the event is technology and collaboration in the arts and humanities.
The event opened Tuesday and runs through Saturday. In addition to a variety of speakers and panel discussions, CHAT also includes a wide variety of interactive projects and demonstrations.
UNC’s Institute for the Arts and Humanities in UNC’s College of Arts and Sciences is coordinating CHAT.
“The institute has cast a wide net in bringing artists, scholars and practitioners to Chapel Hill for this festival,” said John McGowan, director of the institute. “The festival is a showcase for all the exciting work being done right here in North Carolina, with some national and international figures brought in to spice up the mix.”
In addition to UNC-CH, other participants include Duke’s Information Science + Information Studies unit; N.C. State’s Advanced Media Lab; HASTAC (a collaborative consortium focused on new technologies based at Duke) and the Triangle Game Initiative,
