RALEIGH, N.C. – A Germany-based manufacturer of high-tech optical equipment for use by the defense industry will locate the headquarters of its U.S. subsidiary in Wake Forest.
Carl Zeiss Optronics USA, also known as ZeO USA, will base its chief executive officer, vice president of business development and a “core group” or executives and engineers in Wake Forest, according to Gov. Bev Perdue.
ZeO USA is part of Carl Zeiss Optronics GmbH.
The N.C. Military Foundation, which is a key part of North Carolina’s efforts to build a high-tech defense industry cluster in the state, announced the ZeO USA decision.
“Carl Zeiss Optronics USA, Inc.’s decision to locate in North Carolina is a significant development for our statewide defense industry, and will be a critical pillar to growing our capabilities in military and homeland security surveillance and reconnaissance technologies and products,” Perdue said in a statement. “This is further proof that North Carolina is the desired location for defense industry technology companies.”
ZeO USA is already working with 3Phoenix, which is also based in Wake Forest, to sell optical equipment to the Pentagon.
Rick Miller is chief executive officer of ZeO USA. Rex Luzader is vice president for business development.
