Blue Phoenix gets IBM contract to update retailer

CARY, N.C. — Blue Phoenix Solutions (NASDAQ: BPHX), the Israeli software-updating firm with U.S. headquarters in Cary, said Friday that IBM has hired it to update purchase-order systems for an unidentified global retailer.
Blue Phoenix will modernize databases from legacy IMS and VSAM systems to an IBM DB2 environment, the company said. Blue Phoenix said the changeover will give the retailer improved productivity while spending less.
Blue Phoenix described the contract as a multimillion-dollar commitment but did not disclose the amount.
