RALEIGH, N.C. – A mixture of private and public sector executives will participate on Gov. Bev Perdue’s N.C. Energy Policy Council.

The purpose of the council is to help North Carolina develop a stronger “green,” or environmentally friendly, jobs sector and help shape state energy policy.

“We must continue to act aggressively to make North Carolina a global leader in the green economy – and the Energy Policy Council is a critical part of my efforts to strengthen energy policymaking in state government,” Perdue said in a statement.

The chairman of the council is Tim Toben, chairman of the Board of Visitors at the UNC-CH Institute for the Environment.
