BioDelivery Sciences pares year-over-year loss

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — BioDelivery Sciences International (NASDAQ: BDSI) posted a 12-cents-per-share loss for the quarter that ended Sept. 30, slightly better than a 14-cent loss a year earlier.
The Raleigh-based company lost $2.6 million in the quarter, slightly better than the same quarter last year, when it reported a $2.7 million loss.
The numbers are contained in the company's Securities and Exchange Commission filing for the third quarter.
For the nine months of the current fiscal year, however, BioDelivery lost $21.8 million, compared with $9.2 million in the same period in 2008.
BioDelivery focuses on using proprietary technologies it develops to find new ways to deliver already-approved drugs.
