RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — Inlet Technologies already has won gold for the XXI Winter Games in Vancouver, getting the nod from NBC Universal to use its Spinnaker technology for live high-definition streaming of Olympic events.

Inlet will provide Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) live smooth streaming online video, John Bishop, Inlet's senior vice president of strategy and business development, said.

The games will be held Feb. 12-28.

"We approach every Olympics with the goal of delivering the best possible viewer experience," said Perkins Miller, senior vice president, digital media, NBC Olympics. "With Inlet’s Spinnaker, we’re able to take a major leap forward with advanced video player controls and the first-ever HD delivery of online Olympic Winter Games video."

Capitol Broadcasting, parent company of Local Tech Wire, is an investor in Inlet Technologies.
