RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — CIO magazine on Monday named William "Bill" Deam, executive vice president and chief information officer at Quintiles, to the industry's CIO Hall of Fame.
Members of the Hall of Fame are honored for leadership in the CIO community and contributions to the advancement of the profession, Quintiles said in announcing Deam's selection.
Deam oversees Quintiles’ IT organization in nearly 60 countries around the world and is part of the contract research organization's Enterprise Transformation unit, which helps drive change across the company.
"The CIO Hall of Fame is our most prestigious individual award, honoring a widely respected, high-impact IT career of distinguished achievement," said Maryfran Johnson, editor in chief of CIO magazine and events. "The men and women inducted into our Hall of Fame since 1997 represent the most outstanding examples of CIOs worldwide. They have advanced the status of the CIO profession, shown courage and innovative spirit in transforming business with technology, and inspired the next generation of IT leaders."
Deam is also a member of the CIO Executive Council's Board of Advisors.
He and five others will be inducted during "CIO: The Year Ahead Summit & Hall of Fame Honors" in Indian Wells, Calif., Nov. 8-10.
"It is very humbling to receive this honor from CIO," Deam said in Quintiles's statement. "Throughout the course of my career, the IT profession has seen remarkable change as technology advances and the needs of our constituents evolve. For much of my professional life, IT was seen as a service for the core of most businesses. At Quintiles, however, IT is an integral part of the long-term strategy and how we help our customers succeed in the new health landscape."
