RALEIGH, N.C. - Red Hat (NYSE: RHT)) is rolling out its latest Enterprise Linux product, and release 5.4. is a good value, writes Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols in Computerworld.
A veteran Red Hat Enterprise Linux and competitors CentOS and Oracle Unbreakable Linux, Vaughn says the new Red Hat release “is the most impressive of the lot.”
He cites five reasons:
- Baked-in virtualization.
- High-end processor support:
- Support for fast networks “when gigabit networking isn’t fast enough”
- Improved programming tools
- Desktop virtualization
