Cary-based Medfusion acquires rival’s online health service
Privately held Medfusion, a provider of online communication solutions for patients and healthcare providers, has acquired a suite of services from California-based Medem.
Financial terms of the deal, which was announced Tuesday, were not disclosed.
Medfusion plans to incorporate Medem’s iHealth products into a solution for physicians and patients. According to Medfusion, the deal creates the largest such network in the country.
“This acquisition will accelerate the expansion of our patient communication platform and enable Medfusion to provide even more value to physicians and patients,” said Steve Malik, founder and chief executive officer of Medfusion.
Medfusion enables patients and providers to communicate online for appointments, reminders, lab results, prescription renewals, online bill payment and other services.
More than 20,000 physicians use Medfusion technology. The acquisition adds 8,000 more providers to the Mefusion network.
