Bayer CropScience is the winner of the N.C. Industrial Biotechnology Leadership Award as selected by the N.C. Biotech Center.

The Biotech Center presented the award in Montreal, Canada, during a world biotech and bioprocessing conference.

Sixteen companies were considered by the award. A team of N.C. state commerce, agriculture, Biotech and Biofuels Center of North Carolina chose the winner.

“Bayer CropScience is an icon in the field of agricultural biotechnology and a preeminent member of our own North Carolina life-science community,” said Biotech Center Chief Executive Officer Norris Tolson.

Bayer CropScience was recognized for its support of research, online education, enhancement of agricultural technology and advances in both seed technologies as well as chemicals to control pests and disease. The company maintains a regional headquarters in RTP and recently disclosed plans to add 128 jobs at that location.

Previous industry leadership awards went to DuPont, Novozymes and Syngenta.
