State-by-State Report Card North Carolina ranked about average nationally for both four-year and two-year institutions, according to ICW Leaders & Laggards report.

American colleges and universities have long been viewed as the best in the world. Beneath this impressive exterior, however, some significant cracks are evident. North Carolina institutions of higher learner have a little bit of both, according to a new report released by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
