As recent reports have found, the Triangle is home to one of the biggest and fastest growing life science clusters in the country. A Pureto Rico-based company is seeking to take advantage of that.

UltraPure Systems has picked Garner for a new 12,000 square foot plant. The firm is investing some $500,000.

The manufacturer, which builds equipment for use by biotech and pharmaceutical firms, said it plans to hire up to 50 people in the first year of operation for a new plant in Garner. The facility also will serve as the company’s North American headquarters and engineering center.

The company and the Town of Garner announced the news about the plant Wednesday. It will be located in Greenfield North Business Park.

The staff will be engineers and “skilled craft,” the company said.

“Our goal is to headquarter our North American operations out of Garner,” said UltraPure CEO Cesar Roca.

In addition to manufacturing, UltraPure provides field installations of piping systems and equipment.
