BASF, which announced plans a year ago to invest $33 million and expand its crop science campus in RTP, is bringing more jobs to the Triangle.

They are jobs related to crop protection.

The company announced Friday that it is consolidating U.S. “non-crop markets” in the Triangle.

The newly formed BASF Specialty Products Department will include:

  • Pest Control Solutions and Professional Turf & Ornamentals
  • Professional Vegetation Management and Market Business Development

Jan Buberl, Director of Specialty Products, will oversee the group.

“Having these businesses come together as one strengthens BASF and its commitment to the specialty markets, and the acquisition of Becker Underwood underscores a continued commitment and investment to grow,” said Nevin McDougall, senior vice president of North America for BASF Crop Protection. “The new SPD unit will be built to last for the long term, while meeting the needs of customers in these markets.”

The jobs affected in the pest control solutions business will be relocated in coming months to RTP from St. Louis.

Some 30 jobs are involved, a company spokesperson told The Triangle Business Journal.
