Australian government employment agency to utilize SAS

SAS is going to be doing some more business down under, having landed a contract with another agency of Australia’s government.

The privately held software giant said Thursday that the Australian Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (or DEEWR) has signed on to utilize SAS Visual Analytics in a bid to improve use of government data.

Earlier this year, Australia’s Australian Institute of Health and Welfare began using SAS Analytics as well.

“SAS Visual Analytics will help us uncover trends and relationships by offering greater insight and exploration into the vast amount of data we hold,” said Susan Monkley, chief information officer at the DEEWR agency. “We expect that SAS’ simple, visual environment and quick response times will have a significant positive impact on DEEWR policy development.”

SAS Visual Analytics is designed to process “big data” quickly and in a graphic format then deliver reports to mobile devices such as tablets.
