Get Spiffy, the on-demand car care startup now offers a premium oil change service in partnership with ExxonMobil in the Triangle. The move comes as the Scot Wingo-led venture continues to add office parks as partners who want to off perks to tenants.

“Office parks are racing to add amenities to make their facility stand out against the competition,” Wingo tells The Skinny.

“We are a ‘zero cost’ amenity – meaning the office park doesn’t pay (the tenant’s employees pay) and what we ask for is help promoting the service so everyone is aware it is available.”

Also known as Spiffy, the company recently began offering subscription service for car maintenance based on requests made by customers, Wingo notes. (WRAL TechWire reported about the latest addition last month.)

“We’re always listening to customers to see what else we can do to take their car oriented tasks off their plates, but for right now, just those two services,” he explains.

Who knows what might come next? Wingo, who co-founded ecommerce services firm ChannelAdvisor and initially backed Spiffy as an investor before becoming CEO, is a serial entrepreneur always looking for new sales opportunities.

And three-year-old Spiffy continues to grow at a rapid rate, its finances strengthened with some $7 million in new capital added this year.

“Business is very strong – we are growing at 130 percent year over year. and our newest market, DFW continues to exceed our already aggressive expectations,” he notes.

Helping drive demand are the office parks – especially in the Triangle.

“As a company we have 315 office parks and 145 of those are in the Triangle because it’s our oldest, most mature market,” Wingo says.

“We are currently in five cities – the Triangle, Charlotte, Atlanta, Los Angeles and Dallas-Fort Worth, and [we] just opened DFW … so we are focused on growing that one.”

The newest spiff

Now comes a step-up in previous oil change service to team with ExxonMobil in a pilot program that features Mobil 1 synthetic oil. It’s initially available in the Triangle.

“We welcome the opportunity to offer Spiffy customers a convenient, simple way to get a Mobil 1 oil change. Mobil 1, the world’s leading synthetic motor oil brand, keeps engines running like new, delivering unsurpassed engine performance and protection,” said Michele Biamonte, the Americas Automotive Marketing Manager for ExxonMobil Lubricants, in the announcement.

The service isn’t cheap ($99) but it includes a filter, inspection and on-site service from a Spiffy technician. Service can be ordered at home or work via the Spiffy app.

“We’re excited to work with ExxonMobil on piloting a new on-demand service for our customers at their offices and residences,” Wingo says of the partnership.

And as we noted earlier, what comes next?

It’s a safe bet Wingo has a wealth of ideas.
