Entrepreneurs wanting some advice about how to raise money and investors looking for some insight into how one of the Triangle region’s best-known tech executives operates will have a chance to do so on Thursday.

Jud Bowan, founder and chief executive officer of Durham-based Appia, will be a panelist at the quarterly “Shaking the Money Tree” venture capital event put on by PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The May 12 program at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Cary will also feature venture capitalist Steve Nelson of Wakefield Group. Wakefield is a longtime investor in Bowman’s various enterprises over the years, including Pinpoint, Motricity and Appia.

Appia just closed on another $10 million in capital in March.

The company recently changed its name from PocketGear. It is focused on applications for smartphones.

The program begins at 7:45 a.m.
