Most consumers understand their Android smartphones may be vulnerable to security breaches, yet few take steps to protect them, says 360 Mobile Security Limited, which develops mobile antivirus applications. In its survey, conducted via social media channels, it found that while 90 percent of Android users rated security very important, nearly half don’t even know if they’re using a security app.

The survey also found that the top concerns of Android users were untrustworthy apps, online payments, sign-ons, Wi-Fi connections, and the loss of personal data.

While that whopping 90 percent admit security if very important, 44 percent don’t want to pay a fee for a security app. A large majority said they wouldn’t pay more than $4.99 for one. That suits 360 Mobile Security, which has a dog in this hunt.

The company’s 360 Security app, which it says also boosts your phone’s speed, is free to download in the Google Play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.qihoo.security&referrer=qihoo_id%3D105117
