American Airlines will utilize IBM as its cloud services provider, the companies announced Tuesday.

IBM operates one of its more than 50 global data centers in RTP where it maintains one of the company’s largest operations.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

American plans to move “select enterprise applications to IBM’s Cloud, the companies said.

The airline also plans to utilize IBM Bluemix in apps development. RTP is a Bluemix hub for Big Blue.

“The scalability and performance of the IBM Cloud, combined with Bluemix, turns the cloud into an enabler of innovation and a way to create new services and business models,” said Robert LeBlanc, Senior Vice President for IBM (NYSE: IBM) Cloud, in a statement. “This partnership is about delivering the flexibility to American Airline’s business, allowing them to enhance their customer relationships and further gain a competitive advantage.”
