Amazon is apparently planning to open a distribution center in Concord, N.C., based on job openings posted on its corporate website. The company has yet to confirm a decision, but media reports says a deal is near.

If Amazon chooses to locate in Concord, it would be the international retail giant’s first outpost in the state.

Amazon earlier this year agreed to begin collecting sales tax in North Carolina. The company must do so in states where it has a fixed location.

The job listings are listed as for “US, NC, Concord.”

Positions include an “area manager,” an “onsite medical representative,” an “IT support technician” and an environmental, health and safety program position.

An unnamed source “with knowledge of the plans” told the Charlotte Observer that a distribution center is to be located at the Concord Airport Business Park.

Two buildings totaling some 550,000 square feet are being built, the newspaper said.

The jobs can be viewed online.
