New job news is apparently coming today for both Raleigh – part of “Project Snowbird” – and in Greenville.

Allscripts (Nasdaq: MDRX), which established a major foothold in the Triangle with the acquisition of Misys Healthcare three years ago, is likely to announcing an expansion of its local operations this afternoon.

The jobs number is likely to be 350, which would represent a huge boost to the Raleigh campus, WRALTechWire has learned.

Economic developers working on the deal called it “Project Snowbird.”

Allscripts is based in Chicago.

Some 1,140 work there now plus some other part-time workers.

Allscripts and Misys merged in 2010 in a deal valued at over $1 billion.

Gov. Pat McCrory is scheduled to make an “economic development announcement” at the Allscripts office on Six Forks Road in North Raleigh at 3 p.m.

Such announcements, and particularly ones that include the governor, typically mean a good number of jobs.

McCrory recently announced that North Carolina had convinced MetLife to move more than 2,000 jobs to North Carolina, splitting them between Cary and Charlotte.

McCrory’s announcement is timed to follow a meeting scheduled at 2:30 p.m. for the state’s Economic Investment Committee in Raleigh.

These meetings are used often times to confirm contracts for state tax incentives linked to new job creation called Job Development Investment Grants, or JDIG. These actually are rebates to employers of a portion of payroll tax withholding based on the number of jobs created and on terms negotiated with the state.

Also on Wednesday at the same time, N.C. Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker is scheduled to make a development announcement in Greenville.

The address listed is for ASMO Greenville of North Carolina, Inc. According to the firm’s website it “produces front wiper motor linkages, rear wiper motors, arms and blades and radiator fan motors for its North American customers.”
