The annual Innovate Raleigh Summit is adding a new feature to this year’s event: A walking tour of downtown hot spots for new and emerging businesses.

The “Startup Crawl” is set for Sept. 9 from 5-7 p.m.

The Summit, which brings together a wide variety of people to discuss opportunities for growth of Raleigh’s economy, is Sept. 10 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“To kick off the Summit this year, we’re trying something new: a Startup Crawl,” the organizers said Tuesday.

“The Crawl will showcase the innovative, entrepreneurial brand and culture of downtown Raleigh. Similar to a First Friday Art Walk, participants can embark on a self-guided tour of spaces in the Warehouse District and Fayetteville Street District. HQ Raleigh, American Underground, and The Stockroom will act as ‘hubs’ where attendees can pick up maps and see a variety of companies all in one place. Other stops include UserVoice, Magnus Health, DesignBox, Visual Art Exchange, and more!”

Raleigh’s downtown has become a hotbed for startups and technology companies, boosted in part by the new HQ Raleigh and Underground shared office facilities. And Citrix Sharefile has renovated a warehouse district building to serve as its headquarters.

The Summit itself will feature a variety of speakers and breakout sessions.

Topics for “ideation” this year are:

1. Healthy cities, healthy entrepreneur
2. How can entrepreneurs be city influencers?
3. The underbelly of entrepreneurship
